Competitions

Women in Engineering hosts two competitions annually, namely Formula WIEEE and EcoInnovate. The competitions are open to all students and cultivate teamwork, engineering, and growth.

FORMULA WIEEE

Women in Engineering at Concordia University partnered with IEEE to host Formula WIEEE, a mini Formula 1–inspired engineering competition. It was an entry level competition designed to be both engaging and accessible to all students. Participants were provided with a base code and had the opportunity to modify the software controlling small-scale F1 cars before competing on a custom track.

The competition featured both sprint rounds and a main race, and those with the fastest cars would level up in the brackets. With numerous teams participating, Formula WIEEE successfully brought together students from across the engineering community, promoting innovation, teamwork, and a shared enthusiasm for applied engineering.

Ecoinnovate

The EcoInnovate Competition is our annual case competition aimed at addressing contemporary environmental challenges through the collaboration of Concordia’s engineering and business students. With a focus on sustainability, the competition seeks to foster innovative solutions to pressing global issues, providing students with an opportunity to engage in interdisciplinary teamwork, hone their problem-solving skills, and network with professionals from various industries.

By combining technical expertise with innovative business strategies, participants gain hands-on experience in tackling problems that matter, preparing them for future careers. Beyond being just a competition, EcoInnovate offers students a chance to step outside their academic silos. It’s not every day that engineering and business students get to work side by side, learning how to combine their strengths to create innovative solutions. This collaboration helps them build critical skills like teamwork, creativity, and strategic thinking.
